2.2 Wellness and Psychometric Data

To provide personalized wellness insights and track your mental well-being journey, we utilize validated psychometric assessments. We collect data through specific scales at set intervals to monitor your progress:

Assessment Tools: We utilize standard scientific scales including, but not limited to:

• SAS-SV: Smartphone Addiction Scale (Short Version)
• PSS-10: Perceived Stress Scale
• PSQI: Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index
• MAAS: Mindful Attention Awareness Scale
• BSCS-IU: Brief Self-Control Scale
• SDS: (e.g., Symptom/Disability Scales)
• ERQ: Emotion Regulation Questionnaire

Collection Frequency:

• Onboarding: We collect a comprehensive baseline using SDS, SAS-SV, BSCS-IU, PSS-10, PSQI, and MAAS.
• Monthly Check-ins: We track short-term changes using SAS-SV and PSQI.
• Quarterly Reviews: We assess long-term behavioral shifts using BSCS-IU, MAAS, SDS, and ERQ.

Other Wellness Metrics:

• Self-reported mood, stress levels, and emotional state.
• Meditation session completion data and mindfulness practice records.
• Yoga Nidra and Power Nap session usage.
• Goal setting, habit formation, and progress metrics.
• Journal entries and personal reflections (stored securely).

2.3 Screen Time and Device Usage Data

With your explicit permission, we collect screen time and device usage data to provide you with accurate insights and personalized feedback. This includes:

• Daily and weekly screen time statistics.
• App usage duration and frequency by application (Package Names).
• Device unlock patterns and frequency.
• Pomodoro and Ultradian session completion data.

Note: We do not read the content inside your other applications (e.g., messages, emails) or track your browsing history. This data is used solely to help you manage screen habits.

2.4 Device and Technical Information

We automatically collect certain technical information to ensure app stability:

• Device type, model, and manufacturer.
• Operating system and version (iOS/Android).
• Unique device identifiers (e.g., Android ID, Advertising ID).
• App version, build number, and language settings.
• IP address (for security and broad regional localization).
• Crash reports, error logs, and performance metrics (via Firebase/Crashlytics).

2.5 Payment and Purchase Information

We do not directly collect or store your credit card or payment card information. All in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed securely by Google Play Store or Apple App Store. We only retain transaction IDs and subscription status to manage your access to premium features.

3. App Permissions and Special Access

Mentacy requests specific permissions to provide its core features. You can manage these in your device settings.

3.1 Usage Access (Screen Time)

Purpose: To provide accurate insights into your device usage patterns and track screen time.

What it allows: Access to app usage statistics (which apps you use and for how long) and device unlock history.

Why we need it: This is required to generate your daily dashboard and to detect when you are using a distracting app so we can help you stay focused.

3.2 Display Over Other Apps (Overlay Permission)

Purpose: To display "Time for a Break" screens, Focus Mode overlays, and mindful pause prompts over other apps.

3.3 Notification Permission

Purpose: To send break reminders, meditation prompts, Pomodoro timer alerts, and daily wellness tips.

3.4 Internet Access

Purpose: To sync your data to the cloud, download guided content, and access scientific articles.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following legitimate purposes:

• To create, maintain, and secure your account.
• To provide personalized wellness insights based on your psychometric data.
• To generate accurate screen time reports and usage analytics.
• To deliver guided meditations, Yoga Nidra sessions, and Calm Core activities.
• To implement Pomodoro timers and productivity techniques.
• To process payments and manage subscriptions.
• To communicate with you about updates, new features, and support inquiries.
• To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and security threats.
• To create aggregated, anonymized data for statistical analysis (never personally identifiable).

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

YOUR DATA IS PRIVATE AND SECURE. WE DO NOT SELL, RENT, OR TRADE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.

We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: We engage trusted third-party service providers (e.g., Google Cloud, Firebase) to assist with hosting, analytics, and customer support. They are contractually bound to protect your information.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
• Business Transfers: If Mentacy undergoes a merger or acquisition, your information may be transferred with prior notice.

6. Data Storage and Security

Mentacy is operated from India. Your data is stored on secure servers provided by reputable cloud service providers with global infrastructure. We implement industry-standard security measures, including:

• Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest (AES-256).
• Access Controls: Strict role-based access for administrative tools.
• Regular Audits: Routine security assessments and vulnerability scans.

While we implement robust security measures, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but continuously work to protect your information.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Update

You can access and update your profile information directly through the app settings.

7.2 Delete Your Account (App & Web)

You have the right to delete your account and personal data at any time.

• Web Request: If you cannot access the app, you may request account deletion by visiting mentacy.com/contact-us or emailing us at support@mentacy.com.
• Timeline: Upon request, your personal data will be permanently deleted within 90 days, except where retention is required by law.

7.3 Manage Permissions

You can revoke permissions (including Usage Access and Accessibility) at any time via your device settings. Note that revoking these permissions will disable core features like Screen Time tracking and App Blocking.

You can request an export of your data in a machine-readable format by contacting our support team at support@mentacy.com.

8. Children's Privacy

Mentacy is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that their child has provided us with information without their consent, please contact us, and we will delete such information immediately.

9. International Data Transfers

Mentacy is operated from India. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to India and other jurisdictions where our cloud service providers operate, subject to appropriate data protection safeguards.

10. Third-Party Services

Mentacy may use third-party services that collect information used to identify you. We encourage you to review their privacy policies, including but not limited to:

• Google Play Services
• Google Analytics for Firebase
• Firebase Crashlytics

11. Region-Specific Rights

India: We comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP). You have the right to access, correct, and erase your data, and to rigorous grievance redressal.

GDPR (EEA/UK): Users have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and portability of their data.

CCPA (California): Residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to delete it. Mentacy does not sell personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy and notify you via the app or email. Your continued use of Mentacy after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
